To the Graduation Ceremony
Commencement Participation Policy
- Graduate program students who meet one of the following conditions may participate inmay participate in the Commencement Ceremony:
- Graduates who completed their studies at the end of the previous academic year’s summer term,
- Graduates who completed their studies at the end of the fall and spring semesters of the relevant academic year,
- Doctoral and thesis-based master’s students who have successfully defended their thesis during the spring semester and for whom no revisions have been requested.
- Undergraduate program students/graduates may participate in the Commencement Ceremony if they fall under any of the following:
- Graduated at the end of the Summer session of the previous academic year,
- Graduated at the end of the Fall semester of the current academic year,
- Have taken all courses listed in graduation requirements, including the courses registered in the Spring semester (internships, seminars, courses graded as I or IP are also included), and completed a total of 240 ECTS credits,
- Have only “one remaining course” (other than the courses registered in the Spring term) required to complete graduation requirements.
- At the end of the Spring semester, whether students have passed their courses or meet the minimum cumulative GPA required for graduation is not taken into account for commencement eligibility. However, course withdrawals are considered, and eligibility is assessed based on the student’s academic standing after the withdrawal period, to determine whether the conditions specified in clauses (c) and (d) of Article 2 are fulfilled.
- Students whose requests to take courses from external universities have been approved during the spring semester are required to submit a document with a current date (such as an official transcript or formal letter indicating course registration/attendance) proving that they are attending the course at the relevant university to the Directorate of Student Services during the course withdrawal week announced in the academic calendar. Students who fail to submit this document will be deemed not to have taken the relevant course during the spring semester.
- The term “one remaining course” refers to a situation in which a student is required to take only one more course or complete outstanding internships in order to fulfill graduation requirements—regardless of whether the course has been previously attempted or is an applied course. This excludes any courses the student is currently registered in and has not withdrawn from during the Spring semester. If a student has completed all coursework except internships, the number of outstanding internships is not considered. Additionally, the student’s cumulative GPA at the end of the Fall semester is also not taken into account.
- In undergraduate programs requiring a compulsory second foreign language course, students seeking exemption from these courses upon submission of a foreign language examination registration document are required to submit the relevant examination registration or examination result documents to the Faculty Dean’s Office by the end of the spring semester final examination period at the latest, in order to participate in the commencement ceremony.
- For students who participated in an exchange program, the courses and credits listed in their learning agreement for the relevant semester(s) are counted towards graduation requirements.
- Double major students are evaluated separately for their primary and secondary major. They may participate in the ceremony for the academic year in which they meet the requirements for each program. Students may participate in the Commencement Ceremony only once for each major they study at the University. Double major students who graduate from both majors in the same year may attend the Commencement Ceremony held that year only.
- Students may participate in the Commencement Ceremony held in the academic year in which they become eligible. Those who are on the official ceremony list but are unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances, or who opt out because they did not fulfill graduation requirements, must notify the Alumni Office Graduation Committee by the end of Spring semester classes. Upon evaluation, these students may be added to the list for the following year’s ceremony.
